5160 Carbon Steel

Tough carbon steel

Stout little Skinner

The Stout Little Skinner is forged from 1/4 inch thick 5160 carbon steel then ground and differentially heat treated.  The handle scales are nicely figured Koa wood from the BIg Island of Hawaii that are bolted on the knifes full tang and the pommel of the tang is exposed to create a glass breaker which lanyard holes.

Scorpion

This knife is made of 1/4 inch thick 5160 carbon steel and differentially heat treated.  The natural canvas micarta handle is bolted to the knifes full tang.

Tomahawk

What I wanted to create in this tomahawk was a heavy duty tool that would take care of not only my chopping needs in bushcraft settings but something that could be used as a hammer for driving tent stakes and the like. The ability of making an improvised handle from on hand wood in the field in the event of a handle breakage is also great advantage over a hatchet. I've crafted the handle for this tomahawk from Cocobolo which is beautiful and strong hardwood but any standard tomahawk handle will also fit the head. The hawk weighs in just at 2.2 pound including the haft on my scale.
