Blue Bowie

The Blue Bowie is a classic western pattern from simpler, harder time. The beautiful random twisted Damascus was pattern welded by Jim Ferguson and made from high contrasting 1095 steel and nickel. I further refinded the pattern by forging the blade to shape then etched the steel with ferric chloride. Next the blade was blue powder coated and sanded to bring out and contrast the intrinsic pattern. The handle is made from dyed elk antler with an reconstituted colorado agate spacers. The guard and pommel are 416 stainless steel.

Alamo Bowie

I made the Alamo Bowie after the famous Moore Bowie which Jim Bowie is believed to have carried. This pattern has an interesting fighting guard, forged from steel, used to block and catch an apponents blade. The blade is made from 1095 high carbon steel and hardened to about 60 along the edge with about 50 at the spine. This gives the very best in both edge holing and toughtness. The blade finish is gray oxide and powder coated with a tough layer of clear stain.
